Jake's Sleep!
Jake slept through the night for the first time last night! He slept from 10 to 5! I'm not getting my hopes up yet though. He may not do it again for a long time and that's ok. =] I'm just so surprised that he slept that much so early, even if it was just this once. We will see what happens tonight!

Jake is now 7 weeks! My first blog =)
My baby boy is growing so fast! I can hardly remember how small he was when he was born. I'm guessing he is about 11 pounds now, making him 3 pounds heavier than what he weighed at birth. He is also out of most of his newborn clothes. Some onsies and pants still fit though. But for the most part he is on to 0-3 month sizes!
Breastfeeding has been such a roller coaster! Some days we will be doing so great while others I end up in tears after a feeding. I am now pumping about half the time and nursing the other half which seems to be working the best for us. I try to exclusively nurse but it never seems to work out and just brings on more stress than i can handle right now. Jake eats about every two to three hours. He seems to make it longer between feedings when he has had a bottle. I think its due to the fact that he falls asleep at the breast and decides that he didn't eat enough once he wakes up, which is usually twenty minutes later. There is no way for me to measure how much he eats when he nurses, but when I pump and feed he eats about four of the five ounces i get total from both sides. When we nurse he never finishes one side so it makes sense for him to still be hungry. i think i need to try some new tactics to keep him awake and eating for longer.
We have also found a bottle that seems to be working great for us! We now use Playtex Ventaire Advanced which seem to leave him with the least amount of gas. There is no way to completely take away Jake's gas though. He is just a gassy boy! lol I give him gs drops occasionally which seem to help and i will also lift his legs up to his stomach which almost always gives him some relief. Which he really appreciates with a smile after wards.
Jake usually goes to bed at about 9:30/10 pm after a bath, massage and pajamas. We still started swaddling him again which helps him sleep alon in his crib! He's been sleeping in it since he was about 3-4 weeks old. He will wake up to eat at about 2 am, then goes right back to sleep for 3 to four more hours. This repeats until I get enough sleep and decide its time to get up. =) And that's usually at about noon. Jake hasn't been napping too well during the day though. he likes to fight his sleep a lot which makes him pretty cranky. He doesn't have a set routine on his nap timings yet which I should probably establish soon. I'm hoping it might help with his crankiness.
There are so many little things to update on!
-He now smiles in response to noises John and I make, his cheeks being tickled and us just being silly.
-He just figured out how to play with his toys on his bouncer and he swings and smiles at them. -He holds his head up pretty good but he still bobs it all around. I always have to watch out for it because he has made me bite my lip a few times from him head butting me.
-He can hold onto his rattle and swing it around.
-He wiggles all over and kicks his legs a ton. This boy never stays still unless he's asleep! haha
-He can stand for about twenty seconds. Of course, with the help of me. =)
-He can lift his head to about a 45 angle while on the floor and on his tummy.
-He can roll on the bed and off of daddy's belly.... We catch him though, don't worry!
-He likes bath time now, a lot.
-He makes so many noises! i guess it's him cooing? I'm not sure though.
-He also found his hands! he stares at them and moves them around in front of his face. it's so cute! He concentrates so hard on them. He uses his hands to keep his binky in his mouth. He also tries to help mom and dad bring his bottle into his mouth and then grabs onto our fingers to make sure we don;t take it away. lol
Being a mom has been everything and so much more than i thought it would be. Its had it's ups and downs but I wouldn't trade it for anything! I can't wait for my little bugger to learn new things! I will post again when I have more to talk about.
